Our little blessing...

Today was Eliza Marie's blessing day. A much anticipated and celebrated day in the Mormon religion. The morning started out innocently enough with happy little kids and some playing on the bed.

And then the time came when we had to get the kids dressed for the occasion. Sullivan threw a huge fit and it took a huge amount of bribing to get him into his church clothes. And while Eliza's blessing dress was gorgeous, it was certainly not built for comfort. It looked SO uncomfortable and she became so fussy immediately after putting it on!? I am all about comfort when it comes to babies and I totally picked the wrong dress. What I wouldn't give to go back in time and pick again, but alas, we would just have to make due. Once we were all dressed and ready to go, we snapped one quick family picture before racing to the church in hopes of not being late, which we weren't, for the first time EVER. :)

On the way to church Eliza got a huge case of the spit-ups, soaking her pretty little dress. And once we finally got to church, before the meeting even started she wouldn't stop fussing, no doubt due to her monstrosity of a dress. So I took her to the mother's lounge to see if she wanted to eat...nope. Or a new diaper...not needed. But she seemed to settle down as soon as her tights were removed, so the tights stayed off. Nothing wrong with a barefooted baby, right?! So we went back out in time for the start of the meeting...maybe things would be okay after all!? But then, during the opening song Sullivan flung his M&Ms (his bribe) ALL over the place. Awesome. And then Eliza spit-up some more. And then she loudly pooped her pants, while I crossed my fingers that it wouldn't be a blow-out, which it wasn't (phew!). And then it was her time for her big moment, of which she cried through the whole thing. She was not a happy camper. And at this point you could find me on our back pew, trying not to laugh out loud at the hilarity of it all!? It was such a fiasco but it was our fiasco and I loved every minute of it. And Eric did a great job and the blessing was really beautiful in spite of all the distraction. Eric later joked that the veil was very thick whilst up there...yeah, I can only imagine!? :)

Once they made it back to our pew, I escorted our little miss to the mother's lounge for round #2, where I finally got her to settle down a bit. And then, since I knew she was not going to be truly happy until she out of that crazy dress, and since I just happened to have a camera in my diaper bag, I decided to snap a few pictures in the mother's lounge, just in case these were the only non-crying moments of the morning!? She was so adorable! And then I swaddled her up and she eventually fell asleep...phew! And she was an angel for the rest of the meeting.

And then we went home to celebrate with family and friends over our favorite meal, tortilla soup. While the first half of the day was a bit of a fiasco, I at least knew that the soup would be good, and it was. We all had a great time eating and visiting and passing around the babe.

And before we finally saved Eliza from her dress, I was able to take her upstairs and snap a few more blessing day pics. Oh how we love this little girl. She is one of our biggest blessings and I don't know what we ever did without her. She is perfect. And so sweet. And she really is such a good baby. And we love her more than words could ever say. Happy blessing day little princess...we thank God every day for blessing us with you!
