Christmas in Vegas

We spent Christmas this year in Las Vegas my family. We had the BEST time, and we are all so sad that it's over. We spent four busy days there and we managed to do a lot of sightseeing and activities that had nothing to do with The Strip. On our first day we went to the infamous Hoover Dam. It was absolutely incredible, as was the amazing new bridge. Definitely worth a stop.

That evening, for Ryan's birthday, we headed to the strip to go the Paris Buffet and use up some meal vouchers we had received, but the line to get in was a mile long, so we quickly made a plan B. There was a fancy French Restaurant right down the hall from the buffet that looked acceptable. It wasn't exactly kid friendly, but it was Vegas, and I'm sure they've seen stranger things than a toddler and a newborn in a restaurant (hopefully!?), so I tried not to feel too stupid about it!? Lucky for us, by the time we figured everything out and had a table, it was getting late (9pm-ish), and the kids were tuckered out and quickly fell asleep like little angels. Phew!

On our second day we explored Red Rock Canyon, which is such a cool little place and somewhere we'd definitely love to return to when we're in Vegas again. Sullivan had the time of his life climbing on all the rocks and making Heather and Grannie chase him up the mountain. That little guy is fearless!?

On Christmas day we opened presents, and Sullivan played with his new choo-choo trains ALL day long. I think it's safe to say he was happy about his loot. And while Sully played with trains all day, the adults took turns going to the movies...Les Miserables for the girls and dad in the morning, and the Hobbit for Ryan and Eric in the evening. And Eric and I topped off the evening with a nice soak in the hot tub. My idea of a merry Christmas!

On our last day in Vegas we did a little shopping at some outlet stores, and then checked out the aquarium at Mandalay Bay. Sullivan was SO excited about the "big fish!" and the aquarium did not disappoint. He loved it. Then the boys went back to the condo while the girls took Sully to ride the monorail (choo-choo!), and then to the M&M's store where Sullivan scored an awesome toy plane from Grannie. We also went to the Coco-Cola store, where we treated ourselves to assorted ice cream floats....delish! And since Eliza is pretty attached to me, she tagged along with us, being her usual perfect-baby self.

We had the best time spending Christmas in Vegas and are SO sad that it's over already. Even the 7-hour drive wasn't that bad. Our kids have turned out to be pretty great travelers. Thank you mom and dad for the great time and wonderful memories! We love you!
