Thirty

I turned thirty this month. And I have yet to feel even a twinge of sadness about it. I saw the card below a few months back, and couldn't help but laugh and agree wholeheartedly. And ever since then, I've taken this card on as my mantra...I may be thirty, but at least I'm not 20 again!?

When I was twenty I was broke, with no health/dental/eye insurance of any kind, living in crappy apartments, with messy room mates, driving a crappy car, going to school with never ending homework and projects, forking over all I made to tuition payments, attending single's wards, moving every few months, working the most horrible and menial jobs, and top all that off with your basic body image issues. Go back to that? No thanks. Now, that's not to say I didn't enjoy my twenties thoroughly (they really weren't that bad!), and I certainly wouldn't change a thing about them, but going through it once was quite enough for me.

Fast forward ten years and I have a college degree, a job that I love, the love of my life, Eric, a beautiful home, money in the bank, health insurance, decent cars to drive, two amazing kids, and a much healthier body image. While I know not everyone's thirty looks just like mine, I'm pretty sure that most of us can agree that most of our twenties left quite a bit to be desired!? If given the choice, I will choose to wake up 30 over 20, any day. No battle.

So, my thirtieth birthday was a welcomed, fabulous day. And I went ahead and made a week out of it, as I always do. Eric took me to the Coppermill Buffet for Valentine's Day, which was fun and delicious, as always. And for my valentine's gift Eric gave me roses, skittles, and an oyster with a real pearl inside. It took a bit of dissection to get it out, and it was pretty gross, but the pearl inside was awesome. Eric received some cologne, a new shirt, and some protein bars. Oh, we're so romantic. ;)

On my actual birthday, we hosted Sullivan's third birthday party, and then made an afternoon trip down to SLC via the Trax system with the Chattertons. We spent the evening at City Creek Center, eating at the food court, letting the little boys play at the play place, and window shopping at all the awesome stores. It was a fun adventure.

And since the Monday after my birthday was President's Day and we didn't have to work, I went ahead and claimed that day as well, and had Eric take me out to lunch and then went shopping while Eric watched the kids. The President's day sales did not disappoint...7 pairs of clearanced shoes for $40? Don't mind if I do!

I absolutely love my life at thirty. Mostly because it revolves around these three amazing people...

My life is a fairy tale.

7 pair for $40. Amazing! And I'm with you about being 30. I think I'm 20 until I realize that's the age of former students. I'm old, but loving it!

I agree! Thirty is great! And I really believe almost all women are more beautiful at 30 than 20. Could be something to do with that increased confidence.
