Halloween Festivities

On the last Saturday in October Sullivan and I made one last trip out the American West Heritage Center. We had the best afternoon. Sullivan discovered the little toddler hay maze this time around, and he loved it. We spent the majority our time there, which was great. My 9-month pregnant self got to sit and watch and take pics, while Sullivan got to throw hay, jump in the hay, and run around the maze like a crazy man. It was great!

We also did some sliding and some pony riding. And, of course, we rode the choo-choo train more times than I could count.

The day before Halloween we finally got around to carving a pumpkin. This was the first pumpkin Eric and I have carved since our first date back in October of 2005?! My memories of carving pumpkins involve a lot of mess and lot of work in the carving area. Thus we've never bothered carved pumpkins in the last 7 years. But since Sullivan was finally old enough to enjoy such an activity, we decided to give it a go. And lucky for us, this pumpkin was actually extremely easy to carve. It wasn't too messy, and took all of 20 minutes from start to finish. And, as expected, Sullivan LOVED it. He was so proud of our simple little jack-o-lantern.

On Halloween day, Sullivan's daycare put on a little Halloween program/parade. Sullivan came out to sing, but didn't sing a word. He just sat there looking cute. Oh, how I love Sullivan as a cute little pumpkin!

Halloween night we went trick or treating with some friends. We finally talked Sullivan into being a choo-choo train (because his bff Ayden was being a choo-choo train too!). Sullivan had the best time with Ayden and the rest of his little pals, running around like crazy men, and stopping for candy at a few doors now and again. It was all I could do to get a picture of him...he would not hold still for a second!?

After trick or treating we went back to the Mullahkhel's house for treats and more playing. And luckily little sister didn't ruin all our Halloween Festivities by coming early. I would have been so sad to have missed Halloween, though it of course would have been worth it for her. But I'm glad we got to enjoy Halloween, and THEN enjoy our new little girl! It all worked out perfectly, just as planned, just as we like it!
