On the Saturday of our trip to South Carolina, we explored the city of Savannah, Georgia, via a trolley tour. It was the perfect way to see the city. The bus route criss-crossed all over downtown and our tour guide, Angel, was telling us fun and interesting facts about the city a mile a minute.
Savannah is gorgeous! There are giant old trees with Spanish moss everywhere you look, and every few blocks there is a large "square"...kind of like little parks with fountains or statues. It's hard to describe these "squares," but they provide a gorgeous green area in a downtown area full of old houses and architecture, making for a gorgeous city. I had never seen anything like it. I want to live there.
At around 4pm, after exploring the city and taking a stroll along the famous Riverwalk, we found ourselves done sightseeing in Savannah, with a few hours yet to kill. There were still a couple hours of daylight left, and so, per the recommendation of one of Heather's friends, we made our way to coast via the way of Tybee Island. It was a quaint coastal town, which I'm sure is buzzing with life in the summer. But in the chilly month of February, it was rather deserted. It was extremely windy and quite cold, but that didn't stop us from venturing out to the pier to get a better view of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful beach where sea turtles make their voyage to year after year. Sullivan wasn't impressed, and spent his first visit to the Atlantic Ocean cuddling on my shoulder trying to stay warm. I didn't complain...it's not often a two year old is willing to cuddle. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day of sightseeing.
