Friday was our last day in Columbia. While we waited for Heather to finish up her Army stuff for the weekend, we spent the morning at the Columbia Riverbanks Zoo. It was the perfect way to spend the morning. The weather was decent, the crowds were zilch, and it was entertaining and educational for everyone. I especially loved the gorilla, who came so close to us that I could have hugged it, if not for the pane of glass separating us. Sullivan especially loved the elephants and the "choo-choo." While Sullivan could hear the beckoning horn of the "choo-choo" from all over the zoo, it was lucky for us we didn't find the train until the very end. Once we found that train, Sullivan wanted nothing else. He went on one fairly long ride with grandma, which apparently wasn't good enough. I ended up hauling a screaming/crying two-year-old through the zoo, all the way to the exit. We did manage to find him a giant lollipop at the gift shop on our way out, which seemed to mend his broken heart just a bit.
And since you can't turn down a 2-year-old when he miraculously decides
to share something, this is what became known as the community sucker...
It's a good thing we Hammonds have immune systems of steel!? :)
