Island Park

I got back from girl's camp at 12:00pm on Friday, and after a quick shower and quick re-pack, we were on the road to Island Park by 2:30pm, (hmm...maybe that shower wasn't so quick!?). But in any case, it was a fairly quick turnaround for me...from girl's camp...straight to Island Park...what a week!? But it was very fun...

Four of our couple friends got together and rented a cabin in Island Park, and it was awesome. We had dutch oven dinner on Friday night, compliments of Jared and Ashley and their family (thanks again!), and it was amazing! Then we enjoyed the hot tub a bit (yes, we had a hot tub in our cabin), and called it a night.

On Saturday morning we floated down the lazy Henry Fork river, and it was just delightful. Eric and the guys did a bit of fishing along the way, and I finished my book...way too soon...about 1/4 of the way into the float. The boys caught a few small fish...but no keepers. I don't imagine there's much to eat on 4 inch fish!? Do you!?

That evening we went into West Yellowstone for pizza and the Playmill. The performance of the evening was "Guys and Dolls" and I loved every minute of it! Eric however? Let's just say that plays are not his cup of tea...but he was good at pretending to be happy for me! :)

By Sunday morning Eric still hadn't caught a fish, so he woke up early to commune with nature, and God, and the fishies, while I slept peacefully in my cozy cabin bed. Apparently he caught one big, white fish, but they let it go. I was happy about this on two accounts...(1)that he finally caught a fish and could check it off his list, and (2)that I didn't have to witness him cooking a fish on a stick and eating it...or making me eat it. But apparently he didn't get quite enough fishing in, because we went back out to the river after checking out of cabin and spent an hour casting. A few people caught some baby fish, and Eric managed to snag a fish by the back fin...which we let go, of course. And even I tried my hand at a few casts, but seriously, I was horrible!? I always thought I was a decent fisherman, but I was sorely wrong! I'll leave the fishing to Eric...unless I'm in Alaska...

On our way home we took a small detour to Mesa Falls, and it was awesome! It was SO pretty, and green, and cool, and it was definitely worth the stop.

Then we finally made our way home, where a huge pile of laundry awaited our arrival...

sooo fun! I love Island Park and Mesa Falls. Looks like you had a blast! If you're ever having an itch to go see another play in Jackson...give me a call! I'd LOVE to go, and I wouldn't pretend to be happy...I REALLy would be happy. But Kudos to Eric for at least pretending (:
